Protection in every layer.

WHAT IS A FORTIFIED ROOF DESIGNATION?

Highlands Roofing is proudly certified to install FORTIFIED Roof systems, offering superior protection that exceeds standard building codes to make your home more resilient. We are also a trusted contractor with the Strengthen Your Roof Grant Program and are more than happy to guide you through the application process. You can view our provider listings here:

THE VALUE BEHIND A FORTIFIED UPGRADE

While strengthening the resilience of your existing home is priceless during a storm, here are some more tangible value adds that a FORTIFIED Roof can bring, making your ROI that much higher:

FORTIFIED ROOF INCENTIVES & ELIGIBILITY

Anyone can utilize the FORTIFIED standards for construction or re-roofing. While typically the FORTIFIED systems are installed on coastal areas with a close proximity to water and hurricane / tropical storm exposure, anyone can request this system be installed on their roof for that added level of protection.

Here are a few additional grants and discount options that are available for eligible homeowners:

STRENGTHEN YOUR ROOF GRANT

Homeowners along the Outer Banks and Barrier Islands whose property is insured by the North Carolina Insurance Underwriting Association (NCIUA) may be eligible for the Strengthen Your Roof program. Eligible policyholders can apply for a grant of up to $10,000 to be applied to the costs of a FORTIFIED Roof.

INSURANCE DISCOUNTS

Homeowners along the North Carolina Coast may be eligible for discounts on their homeowners insurance. The discount amount is based on the location of your home and the level of FORTIFIED protection it has. Talk to your insurance agent to see what incentives can be applied to your policy.

THE FORTIFIED ROOF DIFFERENCE

While the final product may look the same, the difference is in the details. Here are three major ways that we add layers of resilience into each step of your roof install, making for a FORTIFIED-strong home:

  1. STRONGER CONNECTIONS: We use more – and stronger – nails in an enhanced pattern proven to help keep the roof attached to your house, even in severe weather.

  2. SEALED SEAMS: In extreme winds, even the best roof may lose shingles. To prevent water from pouring into your home, we will seal the gaps between your roof’s decking.

  3. REINFORCED EDGES: Studies show roof edges are especially vulnerable to wind damage. We use materials specifically designed to lock them down.
