The SYR grant program, administered by the North Carolina Insurance Underwriting Association (NCIUA), is a pilot initiative helping eligible homeowners rebuild with IBHS FORTIFIED Roof™ standards—designed to keep your roof intact and your home dry during severe weather.

The FORTIFIED roof is a voluntary construction standard that we use to help provide additional layers of protection for your home against severe weather. This third-party certification program specifies design & construction standards to increase a home's resilience and delivery superior performance during tropical storms and hurricanes.
